“Bill”—The Movie!

In the summer of 2018, Lucy Kin and Alan Voelkel—two lifelong educators and pioneers of the Lapan College and Career Club, a community program that helps low-income students pursue higher education—adapted my family’s story into a multimedia performance titled Bill. The play quickly drew interest from schools eager to share it with their students. To reach a larger audience, Lucy and Alan, on behalf of the Lapan College Club, partnered with a professional film crew to transform the production into a theatrical movie. Bill—The Movie! premiered on January 14, 2020, at the Fox Tucson Theatre, where a packed house of students from across Tucson filled the audience.
